Why Did the Store Close?

The closing of our Dublin showroom was not part of a long-term business plan, nor was it a decision I set out to make.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Trading Places unexpectedly lost its lease and was given just 30 days to vacate the property. The extremely short timeline left little opportunity to relocate the business while continuing normal operations.

I know the sudden closure came as a surprise to many of you, and I truly appreciate the kindness, encouragement, and support you've shown throughout this transition. Your messages, phone calls, emails, and words of encouragement have meant more to me than I can adequately express. Thank you for standing by Trading Places during this unexpected chapter.

While it was heartbreaking to close our doors so suddenly, it also provided an opportunity to step back and evaluate the future of the business.

After seventeen incredible years of building the Trading Places brand, I made the decision not to start over in another location myself. Instead, I believe the greatest opportunity is to pass everything we've built to a new owner who can relaunch and continue growing the business.

Although our showroom has closed, Trading Places is far more than a physical location.

Over the past 17 years, we've built an established brand, a loyal community of customers and consignors, proven operating systems, a strong digital presence, and a business model that has served thousands of families throughout Central Ohio and beyond.

Those assets—and the reputation behind them—remain intact and represent the true value of Trading Places.

What Happens Next?

While the showroom has closed, Trading Places is not disappearing.

Instead, the business is entering an exciting new chapter.

Trading Places is now being offered for sale as a complete business opportunity.

This gives a new owner the ability to relocate and relaunch one of Central Ohio's most recognized retail and consignment marketplaces while building upon everything that's already been created over the past 17 years.

Rather than starting a business from scratch, the next owner will have the opportunity to continue the legacy, relationships, and reputation that so many of you helped build.

I truly believe the best days of Trading Places are still ahead.

To Our Customers and Consignors

Many of you have reached out asking:

"Will Trading Places ever reopen?"

My sincere hope is yes.

The goal is to find the right owner—someone who shares the same passion for beautiful homes, exceptional customer service, and creating an inspiring shopping experience.

When that happens, I hope you'll continue supporting Trading Places just as you have for the past 17 years.

This business has always belonged as much to this community as it has to me.

A Personal Thank You

When I opened Trading Places in 2009, I never imagined the journey that lay ahead.

What began as a small showroom in Powell grew into one of Ohio's premier destinations for quality pre-owned furniture and home décor.

Along the way, we've celebrated milestones, weathered challenges, made lifelong friendships, and helped thousands of families create homes they love.

For that, I will be forever grateful.

While this chapter is coming to a close, I don't see it as the end of the story.

I see it as the beginning of a new one.

Thank you for being part of the Trading Places family.

With gratitude,

Michelle Renda
