Hi, I'm Michelle... and I love the thrill of the hunt.
I've always believed that a beautiful home doesn't have to come with a designer price tag. Long before "upcycling" and "sustainable shopping" became popular, I was searching for quality furniture and unique home décor that had a story to tell.
There is something incredibly satisfying about finding that one perfect piece—the item you've been searching for—and bringing it home before anyone else discovers it. My family jokes that I shop like a hunter... proudly bringing my "find" home, placing it just right, and admiring it for days.
That passion became the inspiration behind Trading Places.
Where It All Began
In 2009, I opened the doors to Trading Places in a modest 3,200-square-foot showroom in Powell, Ohio with one simple idea:
Create a beautiful marketplace where people could buy and sell high-quality, pre-owned furniture and home décor in a way that felt inspiring, stylish, and enjoyable.
The response exceeded anything I imagined.
As more consignors trusted us with their furniture and more shoppers discovered the excitement of our ever-changing inventory, we quickly outgrew our original location and expanded to 6,500 square feet.
After seven successful years in Powell, we made the leap to Dublin, where a 12,000-square-foot showroom transformed Trading Places from a neighborhood consignment store into one of Ohio's premier home furnishings resale destinations.
Over the years, we've welcomed shoppers from throughout Ohio and neighboring states, expanded our online presence, grown our customer and consignor community, and built relationships that have become the foundation of our business.
