My name is Michelle and I love to shop. I especially love to shop for items to create a beautiful home. I love the thrill of finding the exact item that I have been searching for and better yet, the excitement of it being on sale. In fact, at times I feel like a hunter…. dragging my “kill” home, displaying it on the table, admiring it and basking in the fact that I saw it first, bought it or found it before someone else did.

This became the inspiration for me to create a new business called Trading Places. Trading Places is a consignment store located in Powell, OH that specializes in furniture and decorative accessories for the home. I felt that there was a strong need in this area for people who are downsizing or like to decorate and redesign their homes on a regular basis, to have an outlet to sell their fine things, as well as to give growing families or first time home owners the opportunity to fill up their homes and give new life to under utilized items.

Our goal is to draw in products that our buyers are interested in. We maintain an “On the Hunt List” which allows potential buyers to identify what they are looking for and are interested in purchasing. We use this information to drive which items to accept for consignment. Think of us as a “Match Maker” for furniture and home décor!

We accept small and large furniture pieces and home accents in “like new” to “excellent condition” ranging in style from modern to traditional. We showcase, advertise and market those items for up to 90 days in order to find a new home for them. When the item sells, the consignor (seller) receives 50% of the proceeds of the sale.

Our bright and stylish store is in an excellent location and draws in a high level of traffic from neighboring businesses. This is extremely important as it offers visibility to a large number of buyers in order to sell the furniture expediently.

In addition to creating an outlet to recycle furniture and home décor, we also offer the opportunity for great savings. In today’s economy, people still want to have a beautiful home but are choosing very carefully how to spend their money. Trading Places offers savings ranging anywhere from 35% – 65% off of retail prices. Couple this with quality, style and selection and you have one dynamic place to shop!
